I totally agree; it's like a whole museum up there. Unfortunately when I went up there last summer I didn't have the pleasure of having the sunrise (or sunset- it's kinda hard to discern sometimes) in the valley. We drove around the perimeter and had to continue our way up to Oregon.
Look out for double rainbows up there! XD... Oh wait- it looks like its been a week already. Oh well. Nice shot anyway!
Sunrise is not good when seen from the Tunnel View. I tried to do sunrise and it failed. The sun is nor rising into the valley. You just get overexposed white sky and dark featureless shadows below. The view looks eastward into the sun, so even after the sun hits the valley from above the rocks, it is already too late, too bright and too against the sun. Maybe it looks better on a different time of the year, but not in August.
Oh. Well, I saw the orange on the rocks and I somehow immediately thought "sunrise." I couldn't for the life of me remember which way the tunnel view faces, but now that I look at it, it does become unmistakeably sunset-esque
And of course, I am making a shameless request for a widescreen wallpaper. I know most photographers don't do it and I understand. I have a collection of Yosemite WPs, but this one, well, it's at the top.
